Useful links – creative commons and license free music
The Internet Archive has a huge section for community music http://archive.org/details/audio most of which is public domain or share alike by attribution. Check each file for details. They also have http://archive.org/details/netlabels which is a collection designed for streaming on internet radio or editing to make backing tracks.
The public domain review has lots of useful information about finding license free media and a great audio collection http://publicdomainreview.org/audio/
http://publicdomain4u.com/ have done a great job of searching The Internet Archive for the best and most interesting music. You will have to do your own research to check the licenses but it’s a great source for inspiration.
http://freemusicarchive.org/ has a collection of pod-safe audio tracks which can also be edited. These ones include some more modern tracks with RnB, Experimental and Hip-Hop categories to search through.
